The leek is one of Wales’ oldest national symbols, with a history stretching back over 1,000 years. Legend says that King Cadwaladr’s soldiers wore leeks in their helmets to distinguish themselves from their enemies in battle, and it has since become a symbol of Welsh pride, courage, and identity. Today, it’s traditionally worn on St. David’s Day (1st March), alongside the daffodil.
